The flame remembers
A short game entirely vibe-coded with Codex.
A short game I made over a couple of days using Codex, partly to test the capabilities of GPT-5.6 and partly because I had had the idea sitting in the back of my mind for some time.
It’s a minimalistic platformer that I intended as a puzzle game. The player would have had poor visibility due to darkness, forcing them to strategically use torches to get a better knowledge of the map, and then remember its layout before jumping from platform to platform, without necessarily seeing them, relying instead on their memory.
Everything was made by Codex, including the graphical assets, sound effects, and music, with of course my prompts, feedback, and plenty of iterations to refine the results. I also provided a few reference images for the visual direction. The levels were also generated by Codex, which seems to be pretty horrible at that. I might return to this project one day and finish it by making the levels myself, or simply wait for the models to become better level designers.
You can play the game here.
